Disappointed purchaser

I purchased a Sligh grandfather clock with Westminster chimes approx 17 years ago.

The quality of the chime, quarterly, hourly etc has been so uninspiring that we just turned them off.

I recently heard a similar clock which contains a Kieninger movement which was sweet and melodic.

Is it possible to change the sound of the chimes by their replacement and if so is the cost likely to be prohibitive? I am recently retired.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Trevor
