EKAWERKE FRIEDRICHRODA

by DAVID SHAW
(ODESSA TEXAS)

Looking for information on german made grandfather clock, the only writing is on the key, EKAWERKE FRIEDRICHRODA THUR. VERKAUFSABT.LEIPZIG-CI.

No other information on the clock glass in door, weights, no keys to wind.

Father shipped it out of England during or after WWII

Hi David
In the Ekawerke in Friedrichroda they produced office furniture untill the beginning of WWII.
That is where your key probably comes from.
I don't think the clock has anything to do with this.
Up to the middle of the 19th century a lot of clock makers produced grandfather clocks completely by hand except the movement.
What I can suggest is that you look at the movement to see if there are any markings, as these were often not made by the clockmakers but bought and built in.

Unknown German Clock
by: David Shaw

There are two arrows that are crossed on the movement of the clock. and a roman numeral two (II). that's all that's on there, nothing else. The key fits the clock perfectly. It has three quarter westminster chime and that's all I know about it.
