Not Keeping Time

by Diana
(Indianapolis)

I moved to a new home, and my Sligh grandfather clock is not keeping time.

I leveled it and have adjusted the pendulum, but can't get it to adjust properly.

It is off every evening by at least 8 to 10 minutes...YIKES. HELP PLEASE!!!

Hi Diana

Since I don't know whether your clock runs too slow or too fast I will describe both method to adjust the time.

When you look at the bottom of the pendulum rod you will see a disc which is made of brass. This disc is there to set your grandather clock to keep the proper time.

When you raise the bob your clock will start to run faster. On the other by lowering it, you will slow your clock down.

Adjust the clock, then after a day see if your clock is still off, then try again until the clock keeps the correct time.
