Wound too tight?

by Elaine
(Florida)

I have a Ridgeway grandfather clock and usually I am very careful about pulling the weight chains straight down and not too high.

This time I believe I wound it too tight as the weight is not moving down at all and the chime is out of sync.

Any suggestions before I look for a repairman?

Thanks

Elaine

Hi Elaine
These clocks need the tlc that you give it.
One of the things it also needs is a drop of oil here and there.
I would suggest you get some advice from a clockmaker on this.
