Howard Miller Ambassador Chime jammed

by Cody
(Clarksville, TN)

I was trying to rotate the hands to the correct time.

I was messing with the chime tune select (right side lever) and managed to disable the chimes. I spoke with the clock shop where I bought the clock.

He (seller) said I probably jammed the mechanism and that he could fix it 2 or 3 minutes.

He must charge me $85 for a service call. If it is a 2 or 3 minute job, is this something I can do myself?

Thanks in advance!

If you tried to move the lever close to the time the clock wants to either chime or strike, then the clock will not let you, about 2 to 5 mins before it due to sound the gear has pre staged (moved) so that the lever can not be moved back to the chime/strike position, try it when the time is about 5 mins past where it should play a sound.
if that does not work wait 5 mins & try again.
Do not try to force it.

Regards
